As for me, i celebrate my birthday like this:

 

You know, my birthday is on the 31 of December.

On New Year's day i wake up very early and start cooking, because the guests usually turn up at 2 p.m.

So, at 2 p.m we begin drinking and eating with the first group of guests, then with the second one and so on.

At 10 p.m. i usually dream only of sleeping.

At 11.30 p.m i am woken up by someone and invited to the table to "say good-bye to the previous year".

At first i do not show any anxiety, but after some more champagne I exclaim (it's classic) "Я требую продолжения банкета!"

 

To tell the truth, i like New Year's Eve better than New Year itself.
