Papa 119 Опубликовано 24 мая, 2013 maybe "his head" means "his boss" and "cut off" means "stop to govern"? Поделиться сообщением Ссылка на сообщение
victorian 8 435 Опубликовано 24 мая, 2013 And how could he walk and talk without his head, I wonder? his head was cut off - it is just Past Passive. It is not Past Perfect. So I think he walked and talked, then his head was cut off. It`s just my idea Don`t worry! Be happy! Да кто я такой, чтобы себе отказывать! Поделиться сообщением Ссылка на сообщение

Lady LG 4 159 Опубликовано 27 мая, 2013 Dinka Yes, that's almost right. The answer is: "King Charles walked and talked; half an hour after, his head was cut off, or King Charles walked and talked. Half an hour after, his head was cut off." There are not many interesting tasks on punctuation, but that one, about Charles, is well-known. You can find it in many books. From my point of view, it's not quite correct. I would say "half an hour later." A chocolate medal goes to Dinka! Поделиться сообщением Ссылка на сообщение
Lady LG 4 159 Опубликовано 27 мая, 2013 Two more tasks for fun and profit: Punctuate: "Caesar entered on his head his helmet on his feet his sandals in his hand his sword in his eyes a fierce look" Sorry, I can't remember, I might have written it last year. Guess the film: "Nick closed his eyes. He imagined a huge freshly roasted beefsteak on the frying pan. It gave off an appetizing smell. Nick's head turned. He had nothing against meat, but meat ..... MEAT..... was absolutely unbearable for their family budget." Good luck! See you! Поделиться сообщением Ссылка на сообщение

DanilaMe 20 Опубликовано 24 июня, 2013 Hi guys! I would like to share a new verb that I learned yesterday when my canadien friend called. "Man you pocketdialed me like 10 times..." Pocket dialing occurs when your cell phone, seemingly of its own free will, dials your friends (or worse, enemies) at inappropriate times. This could be caused by small pockets or objects in the pockets that press buttons on your phone - including the send button. This pocket dialing stuff drives me crazy since when I block the cell it calls 911 and if I don't it calls my friends from the contact book. Поделиться сообщением Ссылка на сообщение
Lady LG 4 159 Опубликовано 25 июня, 2013 Hi guys! But we are not only guys, we are also ladies Anyway, glad to meet you! I've never heard of "pocket dialing". It's natural for any language: new words appear, old phrases and constructions gradually come out of use. What I can't understand is: when I block the cell it calls 911 Why? A new verb from me: to applepick means to steal somebody's iPhone. Поделиться сообщением Ссылка на сообщение
