Lady LG 4 159 Опубликовано 10 декабря, 2013 Dear friends, I enjoy reading short inspiring stories, like this. I’m sure you’ll like it. Sand and Stone One day two friends were walking through the desert. During their journey they had an argument, and one man said a lot of offensive words to the other. The one who got insulted, without saying a word, took a stick and wrote on the sand: "TODAY MY BEST FRIEND INSULTED ME" They kept on walking until they found an oasis and decided to have a swim. The one, whose feelings had been hurt, couldn’t swim very well. He got stuck in the mud and started drowning, but his friend saved him. The man took a sharp nail and wrote on a stone: "TODAY MY BEST FRIEND SAVED MY LIFE." The man who had offended and saved his best friend asked him, "After I hurt you, you wrote on the sand and now you're writing on the stone, why?" The other man replied: "When someone hurts us, we should write it down on sand where winds of forgiveness can erase it away. But when someone does anything good for us, we must engrave it in stone where no wind can ever erase it." 2 Поделиться сообщением Ссылка на сообщение

Lady LG 4 159 Опубликовано 15 декабря, 2013 victorian Many thanks! I liked the dance very much. The pair is expressive and harmonic, but if the partners were wearing costumes, they would look much more beautiful. I wish I could dance like them! 1 Поделиться сообщением Ссылка на сообщение
Lady LG 4 159 Опубликовано 15 декабря, 2013 Dear friends, have you heard of the English sentence about "Buffalo buffalo...?" It looks like this: "Buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo" The sentence is grammatically correct and easily understood by native speakers. Let's try to translate it from English into Russian. The picture can help you. Sorry if it is small: I couldn't find a bigger one. One day a student came into the class very excited and said, "Teacher, Teacher, last night I dreamt in English." The teacher said, "That's wonderful. What did you dream about?" And the student said, "I don't know, it was in English." Изменено 18 декабря, 2013 пользователем victorian 2 Don`t worry! Be happy! Да кто я такой, чтобы себе отказывать! Lady LG 4 159 Опубликовано 18 декабря, 2013 (изменено) Dear friends, Christmas is coming. As you know it is celebrated on the 25th of December in most English-speaking countries.I’m sure you’ve read a lot about the way people celebrate it, but now I’d like to offer you some more facts about this holiday and I’m sure you’ll read them with interest. I mean “Christmas Superstitions” 1. If the wind is blowing on Christmas Day, the next year will be good. 2. If you want to have good health throughout the next year, eat an apple on Christmas Eve. 3. If you want to be happy, eat Christmas pudding on Christmas Day. 4. If you wear new shoes on Christmas Day, it will bring you bad luck. 5. If you refuse a mince pie at Christmas dinner, you will have bad luck for the coming day. 6. If you cut a mince pie, you’ll “cut your luck” too. 7. If a baby is born on Christmas Day, it will have a special fortune. 8. If you eat a raw egg before eating anything else on Christmas morning, you will be able to carry heavy weights. 9. If it snows on Christmas Day, Easter will be green. 10. You will have as many happy months in the coming year, as the number of houses you eat mince pies during Christmas time. 11. Good luck will come to the home where a fire is kept burning throughout the Christmas season. 12. On Christmas Eve all animals can speak. However, it’s bad luck to test this superstition.
