At the very first lesson I wondered what her homework for school was and the girl said she was to learn a poem by heart

 

Now I understand why there are so many fifteen-year-old pupils who don't know how to use English at all after learning it at school. If from the early childhood they are made to learn the things they don't make head or tail of

The girl turned out to be very capable and made great progress in the end. It wasn't her fault. It was her grandmother who had made her learn the phrases like "А во тура" or "Хава ю?" by heart without understanding anything.

It's awful! You may disagree but I sometimes think I'm against pre-school education.

And one more problem, I`m afraid after this huge portion I`ll be able just sing or sleep. Have you thought about it?   OK, we`ll discuss all details after dinner!

      Two more notices from Bryansk. Russian English is inimitable!

 

     What I can’t understand is: nowadays most people involved in tourist business have higher education and study English at universities.

    They should know such elementary phrases as “Don’t disturb!” It seems to me they have never been abroad and stayed at hotels.
