Thank you for the information! I've never heard of Moscow Protestant Chaplaincy. It's news for me that St Andrew's Anglican Church is really situated in Moscow, in Voznesensky Pereulok. I've just found a picture of that building. It must be very old and looks unusual. Are you going to visit it?

It was not difficult to carry those two buckets of mushrooms for I am too fond of gathering them. The forest is a five-minute walk to my country house. The main problem was in clearing/washing/boiling/freezing  them

In the photo there is only a small amount of the mushrooms.

 Special gift 

 

An older, white haired man walked into a jewelry store one Friday evening with a beautiful young gal at his side. 

He told the jeweler he was looking for a special ring for his girlfriend. The jeweler looked through his stock and brought out a $5,000 ring and showed it to him. 

The old man said, "I don't think you understand, I want something very special." 

At that statement, the jeweler went to his special stock and brought another ring over. 

"Here's a stunning ring at only $40,000," the jeweler said. 

The young lady's eyes sparkled and her whole body trembled with excitement. 

The old man seeing this said, "We'll take it." 

The jeweler asked how payment would be made and the old man stated by check. "I know you need to make sure the check is good, so I'll write it now and you can call the bank on Monday to verify the funds and I'll pick the ring up Monday afternoon," he said. 

Monday morning, a very teed-off jeweler phoned the old man. "There's no money in that account." 

"I know", said the old man, "but can you imagine the weekend I had?"

A young man called his mother and announced excitedly that he had just met the woman of his dreams. Now what should he do? 

His mother had an idea: "Why don't you send her flowers, and on the card invite her to your place for a home-cooked meal?" 

He thought this was a great strategy and arranged a date for a week later. His mother called the day after the big date to see how things had gone. 

"The evening was a disaster," he moaned. 

"Why, didn't she come over?" asked his mother. 

"Oh, she came over, but she refused to cook."

Russians refresh themselves with this cold soup made of ice-cold kvass (weird national drink most closely compared to non-alcoholic beer), sausage, cucumbers, onions, boiled eggs and sour cream - just imagine this horrendous concoction!! ... And guess what they call this «soup»... They call it «Ohkroshka»... pretty difficult to articulate, huh? And now get ready for a translation. «Ohkroshka» means «Oh baby»!

Oh, yes, I quite agree with you! A Christmas present is always a problem. If I came across such a calendar, I'd certainly buy it!

Who still study English pronunciation I'd recommend this very good exercise which widely used by actors in UK. My first tutor of English (typical Englishman) recommended me. Try to perform it as fast as possible.
